So here we sit again waiting to see what the outcome will be for the family of the latest young black teen murdered by a white cop. In a better world I wouldn’t have to emphasize the color of the victim or the suspect but unfortunately that better world does not exist at this time and because white racism is such a deadly disease that spreads quickly across the globe, I have to provide the color of the individual. When it comes to our young people, specifically black children, we know that they are not exempt from being gunned down by that gang in uniform, who wear badges and like to call themselves police. We’ve had Tamir Rice, Tyre King, Trayvon Martin and many more who have died by the hands of this gang in blue uniform.
In this latest murder, the gang member cop, named Roy Oliver, shot into a car of Black Teenage Boys. He shot with a rifle putting a bullet into the forehead of Jordan Edwards, killing him. The Edwards family is distraught but even worse, the older brother of Jordan Edwards was the driver of the car and witnessed his brother die right before his very eyes. The gang member cops immediately lied about the incident but the body cam video exposed the lie. The gang member cop who murdered young Jordan was immediately fired and now it looks like murder charges are being brought, but the family of the gang member cop is already building his defense by saying that he has PTSD from his time in Iraq. These are excuses. If that’s the case then just about every Black person living in the U.S. has PTSD from our time dealing with this racist system, but it doesn’t hold weight when any of us stand in front of a judge in a court of law. Not to mention the other cops who lied trying to corroborate Roy Oliver’s story should not be forgotten in all of this. They lied, that’s obstruction of justice, so why aren’t they being charged as well.
Let’s not be so overzealous and happy that one of these gang member cops is finally being charged that we miss others who should be charged right along with him. And let’s not forget how this system goes all out to protect it’s own. We have to stay on top of everything because if we don’t then we will never get justice. We have to demand it!
