I have had a few friends from the Jewish Community tell me that there is a science to the handling of money and how it is used. In the Black Community we haven’t been taught this lesson, at least not across the board, because we continue to allow money to pour through our hands like water. We have no clear set goals or group agendas concerning money, other than making sure we fulfill our wants, neglect our needs and wait until the next paycheck to do it all again. We are the masters at making others rich but lack the vision to increase our value by circulating our dollars longer in our communities, disciplining ourselves to not spend and establishing businesses that produce revenue within our group.
I particularly have put out a call to action regarding this by asking for donations so that we can start our own media broadcast, production company for positive arts, to retain land by buying the Community Threads building which encompasses land which we need to keep in our community, as well as money to help us expand our Unity Walks that we currently have nation wide but lack the funding to take to the next level. We have no code when it comes to money. For instance white people will donate to a cause quickly. As soon as the call goes out they are on it. With us however it’s a different story. Seems that the only thing we’ve been trained to donate to is the church. And if we do donate it is to other white causes that have absolutely nothing to do with us. So let’s take a look at our spending habits and what each one of us can do on an individual level to change the way we look at and spend our money. And remember, it’s time for us to have our own Media, Our own Production, Our Own Everything, but it takes finance to uplift a nation. If you’d like to donate to the project I’ve listed above please donate to my PayPal at email@example.com.
