The last few days have been hectic in the so called ‘Conscious Community’ challenging the moral fabric of the movement! We saw the demoralizing debacle between Dr. Umar Johnson and General Seti. This type of behavior does nothing but creates an even wider divide in the black community which is what we don’t need at this time. When we look at it in its fullest context what you have is a portion of people who are going to side with Dr. Umar and you have a portion of people that are going to side with General Seti. Our people love to indulge in drama and in some cases search it out because that is what many have been trained to do.
So as discouraging as it is we must do everything in our power to keep the so called ‘Conscious Community’ protected from leaders who lose their way, whether it be to ego, envy, money, etc etc. When leaders go rogue we must hold them accountable and remind one another that no one is greater or bigger than the movement itself. I always say, you have leaders who are either in it for the moment or for the movement. The childishness that was splashed across social media by two proclaimed leaders was not only a blemish on their own characters but also a disrespect to the people who support and follow them. It shows that they learned nothing from leaders who came before them demonstrating this same type of behavior.
This coming year should be a time of Unity and Reconciliation for our people. A time for us to really realize that WeAllWeGot, and to build upon that. When leaders go rogue with the type of nonsense we’ve seen this past week then it’s time to hold them accountable and even step away from them if need be until they pull it together. If a leader can’t be questioned then that leader should not be accepted. There is no place in this movement for arrogance, ego, bribery, money thieves or all the other ills that have been demonstrated by some in the past. We should never be afraid to hold leadership accountable, because Man sharpens Man like Steel sharpens Steel!
