Over the past month or so I have observed the deliberate attack on Black Activists/Leaders by social media outlets who seem to be hell bent on shutting down these Black Men & Women by banning them or suspending them from these outlets. In other words they are doing all that they can to make sure these leaders can not communicate with their respective communities, at least not through social media outlets. They are in essence shutting down the voices of these leaders and this cannot be taken as just happenstance. These outlets will use the excuse that the Activist/Leader in question said something or posted something that goes against the policies of the social media outlet itself. However when I took a closer look I realized that these policies only seemed to apply to black people. Yes I saw that white people and others were violating the polices at a much higher rate but were not being banned or suspended. I even came to find that in 99% of the cases that Black Activist/Leaders had in no way violated any policy at all. Which left me with the only conclusion that we are being banned and suspended for two reasons, being black and the outlet not liking what we have to say.
We must realize that this is nothing new. There has been an ongoing conspiracy in this country, and it’s deeply embedded in the very fabric of the system of white racism. That conspiracy is that those black people who speak the truth and who have the ability to educate people and make them aware of the system, well they are a threat that by all means must be shut down. We’ve seen this time and time again with brothers like Dr. Martin Luther King jr., Malik El-Shabazz (Malcolm x), Nat Turner, Huey P. Newton, and the list goes on and on. I didn’t even mention brothers and sisters outside the U.S. who have been subjected to this same level of racist censorship. Because social media is not only a convenient form of marketing, communicating, networking, it is also a great way to educate and disseminate information which makes it a very valuable growth tool
And because it’s such a valuable growth tool and because the system of white racism has always had its sights on shutting down any of our outspoken leaders, it is imperative that we build our own social media platforms and outlets. We cannot continue to depend on a system that has shown itself to be untrustworthy, and at times murderous when it comes to our Black Activist/Leaders who it assigns a particular threat level. It is time to start pulling away and supporting our own, period. You can find what I’m saying to be true is by looking at what they are doing to the Black social media outlet Blaqspot.com. Hackers have gone in trying to destroy that outlet, and are continuously working to shut it down. Why? Because every time we build something for ourselves the system of white racism wants to come in and tear it down. So not only must we build but we must also protect that which we build. Make no mistake about it, history has shown us that our leaders with a voice either get shut down or killed, and our community successes get destroyed whenever they’re not protected.
